Red color

A screenshot of my iPhone. It's three forty-four. At night. All the places where the alarm sounded are colored red.

The Houthis in Yemen are still very determined and this is the second time this week they have fired their missile. The previous one destroyed a school near Tel Aviv. Luckily it was at night. This night a playground in Jaffa was hit.                                                                                                                                      There was no alarm here, but I heard it from all the surrounding towns and also the loud explosion of the interceptor. (I hope that's the right word, that's what Google suggests..), the fear is the same fear even when the alarms aren't actually here.                                                                                                   Red is the name of the app that notifies you of alarms in real time.

  4. You and your beloveds are often in my thoughts. It is a relief to hear from you and yet sobering to know how grave the current circumstances are. Sending love always with the undying hope for the peace that seems an impossibility but which must come for the sake of the children and their children and their children.

  6. It's so horrible that this just goes on and on. Doesn't it seem crazy that Yemenis, living in such a poor country where many people barely have enough food, can find time and money to put toward lobbing missiles at other countries? Talk about misplaced priorities.

    1. (I realize the Houthis are rebels and not the Yemeni government.)

  7. Steve, the missiles from Yemen are funded by Iran, only the Houthis are left after Hamas and Hezbollah were silenced.
I didn't know who they were until a few weeks ago, they are disrupting all world trade now with their missiles in the Suez Canal. The US and UK also have an interest in subduing them.

  10. I saw that same map on my phone last night and was shocked, wondering what on earth is going on over there! (I am in the US)...the site *standwithus* gave updates saying 16 people were lightly injured, but if it has been in the daytime things could be much worse. I pray for peace, may it come sooner than later, please. Sara

  12. I visit your blog every time I use my laptop. And I am always glad to see a new post because it means that you are safe. Why can´t you live in peace? Sometimes I am ashamed for worrying about thing like Christmas preparations while you have to fear for your life.
I hope and pray for peace for you, your family and your country. And for all the people in your neighbour states who just want to life a normal, peaceful life, too.

  13. Why have the Houthi's suddenly started making such a nuisance of themselves. They are attacking shipping, and now firing rockets at the mainland. I suppose someone will have to deal with them. Trouble is everywhere. I wish you a peaceful Christmas. xx

    1. Christmas is a festival period of several winter days. I am certainly not a Christian, but I enjoy Christmas all the same; as do millions of others.
