More of the same

And again the alarm sounded at 4.21 in the morning. It was a good thing I had my shoes and phone ready so I could quickly take them on the way to the shelter. We passed through the neighbors' yard and with trembling legs, while the alarm was still audible, we opened the iron door and went down the stairs to the shelter.

After that, two young families arrived with their small children, one of whom brought the blanket with him that he sleeps in bed with, and the dog Bella who is very frightened as always by the alarms.

We waited ten minutes until we heard the explosions and still with trembling legs, I returned home.

Merry Christmas to all of you, wherever you are.

  1. Merry Christmas to you too Yael.
Everytime I read about the rockets, I think of you.
I think we're nearing the end of this conflict now, and you will have peace.
Hope your family stay safe also.
    Big hugs
    Liam.

  2. What a terrible night you had! I was awake at 4.21, but warm and safe in my own bed.
May you have at least some peaceful days, I think one can live only one day to the next, and it is good that we don´t know what the future holds for us. But if I could wish only for one thing, it would be "peace on earth for all people of good will"

  3. And probably some poor souls returned to find their homes in a pile of rubble. Lets just hope that some solution can be found. Maybe Trump will help things along? Best wishes, xx.

  4. Be safe!!
Despite my family saying they have been safe so far, I don't think I could cope permanently on alert. I asked my grandson to come to Australia until the war ends but he is firmly fixed in Tel Aviv.

  5. I can understand your concern as a grandmother, from a distance things look even scarier than they really are. The fear is not felt here, there is more sadness and pain for the 100 kidnapped people still in the tunnels in Gaza and for the unfortunate families who were hit so hard on October 7th.

  6. So much for goodwill to man and peace on earth. Your reality is a little different. What a terrible way to start the day. I'm glad to hear you're safe. May you and your family always be safe.

  7. It's unbelievable how much adrenaline one rocket at four in the morning can produce. I managed to go and buy everything I needed at the small supermarket here, I cooked a lot, cleaned a few things at home, and now I'm waiting for my afternoon nap.

  9. Dear Yael, so sorry this is happening to you, when many are looking forward around the world, to a happy time. You and ukraine are being badly attacked. The sound of the sirens stay with you.
I hope the rest of this period , which should be symbolising ,the return of the light, to the world, is peaceful for you.
Sending our best wishes to you, Yael and your family.

Sending love to you and your beloveds, the 100 kidnapped people, the unfortunate families, and all who are experiencing ongoing sadness and pain, as the first night of Hanukkah approaches, the festival of lights and a great miracle.
