Go with the girl to the hairdresser, to the shops, marvel at how well she knows exactly what she wants, go with both of them to the small cafe in the mountains where there is no place to sit because of the dozens of motorcyclists who come there on Saturdays.
I still see them at least twice a week, they are still happy to see me and love the food I cook for them, according to their request, and that is also a great joy.
I didn't ever have a sister or daughter, so my fun with the boys was always cricket, football or soccer. When my first grandchild was a girl, I was delighted!! We didn't do hairdos, but we did clothes shopping, libraries, cooking and holidays together.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're a great grandma Hels.
DeleteSometimes everything and everything looks similar everywhere.
ReplyDeleteYes, in the end we are all made of the same stuff and want roughly the same things.
DeleteStep grand-daughter visited last weekend and our time alone was spent in discussion of mental health issues. The world seems to be a sad and scary place for our following generations. What on earth have we done to them/to their world?
ReplyDeleteIndeed, the world has become a sad place, but it is still possible to generate a little joy in some corners.
DeleteYour visits are still a chance to spend time
ReplyDeletetogether,I'm glad you at least have that. You hadn't written about family time recently so I didn't know it was ongoing, I am smiling now, thank you,-Mary
Life goes on here Mary, I don't write about everything, thank you.
DeleteShe has such pretty hair.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a joy to spend time with them both.
These photos are from a few years ago, but she is still as beautiful as ever. We still hang out together when they have free time...

ReplyDeleteGreat joy! Those are beautiful words.
Thank you am, sometimes I'm not sure about my choice of words in English.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue hair! I'm glad you still see them even if you haven't been able to do some of these favorite activities lately.
ReplyDeleteThe photos are from a few years ago, since then they have grown more and today she dyes her hair alone, but we do other things together, when possible.
DeleteA normal life. One that I live here. I hope you can enjoy all these activities with your grandchildren soon. It's marvellous to be a grandmother. The children grow up quickly, they still stay close but it's not the same when they are older and have lives of their own.
ReplyDeleteWe remain more or less the same, they are the ones who grow and change. But being a grandmother is still a wonderful thing.
DeleteMy granddaughter did the same coloring job to their hair. One went blue and the other fuscia. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI remember what a wonderful grandmother you are.
DeleteWe have SIX grandsons. My wife was really hoping for a granddaughter to go shopping with; but no!
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that I don't like shopping, but with her the experience is different.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is good to treasure moments like that. Hope you get more of them soon.
ReplyDeleteEllen, I hope so too.🌷🌷yael
DeleteThe small simple things can bring us such joy. Quiet moments with loved ones. Flowers in my garden.
ReplyDelete❤️❤️ thank you Terra. Yael
ReplyDeleteHi Yael
ReplyDeleteNeither of my sons have families, so I do not have the pleasure of grand children. But it is important to pass on the knowledge and wisdom we gather, so glad you can. I pass it on freely to anyone who asks.
One day things will return to 'normal' , in the meantime we have to appreciate all the good things around us,,
Walk in beauty, Yael
Kathy
One day everything will be back to normal xx
