As if there were no shortage of dramas in our lives, yesterday there was extreme weather, extreme heat and very strong winds and with them came a huge fire. Everything happened here around me.
I was not at home. Like every Wednesday I was in charge of the children's driver, feeding and enjoying them, I saw everything on TV and wondered how I would get home. Although lately I always wonder how I will get home because of the missiles, but this time it was different.
Flames of fire on the scale of the Los Angeles fires, main roads were closed, people were forced to abandon their cars on the road and flee, towns were evacuated and there was great drama. All of this happened around my house, but my community is still not evacuated. Independence Day celebrations were supposed to start, but everything was canceled. In any case, no one feels like celebrating at this time. In the afternoon, my daughter and I decided that maybe I should drive in daylight, which I've been doing lately anyway because of the missiles. We checked on our phone and saw that the road was safe, and so I arrived home safely again.
The air is still full of the smell of smoke, but the wind has calmed down and the temperatures have dropped. All that remains is to wait for the next drama.
Was the fire an accident of nature or do you believe it was intentional (terrorism)? We Australians have destructive bush fires every summer, which I still fear after decades of seeing them. But I am not sure about Israel's fire fighting capacity, both professional and voluntary.
ReplyDeleteYou and your family should be healthy and well. My Israeli family as well!
The cause is still unclear, the main reason is a terrorist act. Firefighting planes from various countries arrived to help and the situation is currently under control. Thank you Hels.
ReplyDeleteIt is a relief to hear from you that the fires are currently under control, Yael. Sending love always.
ReplyDeleteThank you, am, the fire has only just been brought under full control, but we are fine.
ReplyDeleteI saw about the fire on TV. Thank goodness it had been caught in time to deal with it. As we all know, fire is so destructive.
ReplyDeleteWith everything going on here, there hasn't been an alien invasion yet. It's not boring here.
ReplyDeleteShalom Yael. I am glad to hear your house and family are okay despite those massive fires that broke out. I was wondering. I hope and pray the constant negative drama will begin to fade away soon, although it sure doesn't seem very likely at the moment. Thank goodness the fires were quickly attended to and as far as I can tell, there were no fatal injuries. So sad, though, all the damage and destruction. May better days come soon!
ReplyDeleteWe just got out of the shelter after another early Saturday morning alarm. It's not boring here. Thank you for your concern.
ReplyDeleteYikes! That is some excitement you don't need! I hadn't heard about your fires but I'm glad you're OK.
ReplyDeleteThe missiles here are no longer in the news, but they still exist, at least one a day.
DeleteOh I pray that you have calmer waters ahead
ReplyDeleteThanks, John.
DeleteIt certainly gives me a touch of reality reading your posts as the UK news coverage doesn't give much detail and certainly not of how it affects real people trying to keep normality going - it must be hard for you to keep to a routine. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this comment, it's so good to meet someone new who has an interest in normal life here, I'm so torn about whether to continue writing because of all the political overtones that have stuck here, I'll think about it.
