I'm so very sorry to hear your sad news. It's a terrible wrench when our pets leave us; I expect the children will feel the loss more than anyone. Dogs are a 'permanent' part of their lives, that they never expect to go. My sympathy to you all. Cro x
A dog is a member of the family. It's always a sad moment. My brother's dog Ben died about a year ago and they said they'd never get another. But then on holiday in Spain my sister-in-law spotted Kail in a kennel for stray dogs and now he's the new Ben. And don't they make a fuss of him!
I know just how you feel, and send you love and a big hug. My first dog was put to sleep ( aged 16) over 5years ago and there were several things I used to do.....(trying to learn to play the piano again, water colour painting etc ) that I stopped doing and still haven't taken up again! For me though , I needed another dog as soon as possible and 8 weeks later we had my lovely schnauzer , Alexi. He filled the dog shaped hole in the family, but I still can cry when I think of Dillon.
