I had to walk only 500m and took those pictures few minuets ago.Every year at the same time the poppies are back and each year there are more of them.Soon the hills and the fields around here will turn yellow again,
Another backyard and a good one too. It is always lovely to see the poppies come out. The sky has some very dark clouds; perhaps you are in for some rain later. The poppies will like it.
Those poppies look lovely. Our state poppy, illegal to pick, grows a bit like a weed & can be seen growing along the sides of roadways, in between rocks & bits of pavement. The petals fit loosely around the flower head and are sort of flat & triagular-shaped. I really dig the Israeli variety.
I really like Poppy season, some of our fields become totally red. I believe Poppy seeds can lie dormant for years then suddenly appear again. Wonderful.
Googles tells me that the yellow ones are chrysanthmume, I have been to England 40 years ago, time to go again.(i have a family member who is a Lord in England, never met him. but other people in my family did,).
Some thing so beautiful couldn't fail to cheer me up Yael. Not a good day, I probably have cancer. But, oh those poppies a field of them..............glorious. Thank you for the wonderful photographs. Margaret
It is definitely time to come to England. You could come and stay with us....we are in Harpenden , which is about 25 minutes north of London on the train! Lord who? I am intrigued !
Thank you Frances for your kind offer,If i shall come to England i'll let you know. i shall keep the lord's name secertly for now,Tom S. said once that the Israelies are paranoid and they have a good reason for that. He is so right:)
Thank you Harry,i am still embarased because i can not understand what is so interesting here, but most of the people who are commenting here are wonderful people that i like and love their blogs .
Wow. I'm gobsmacked. They are fantastic. In Austria they eat the poppy seeds of the purple ones in Mohnstrudel, a cake which looks rather like a Swiss Roll.

ReplyDeleteMe too.It is only in that field here, i don't know why.
DeleteAlmost your garden is a delight:) They bloom like the wild flowers do here in Australia [if there has been enough rain].
ReplyDeleteI thought about it and it is more than 500m, may be 800m, but very close. They are wild here too only at that time of the year.
