The pornography of disasters

These are just chapter heads that I write in my head. I decided not to comment on other blogs that refer superficially and without real knowledge to what is happening here. People take what they are given and I don't blame them, it is what it is.                                                                                                                              Filmed dramatic disasters bring high ratings. One moment you are a victim and the next moment you become the forces of evil because of the pornography of the disasters. As if there wasn't a continuous sequence of events, of history, of reasons, of facts.                                                                                                      Someone anonymous wrote here yesterday a correct and very comprehensive comment about the truth and facts here, but after a moment he deleted it. I regretted it, even though this blog was not supposed to deal with politics in the first place. But this is no longer politics but life itself here.                                Now we are in danger from the Houthis in Yemen who are firing missiles to the south, the Hezbollah in the north who have already destroyed entire settlements, this morning something was fired from Iraq, and of course still missiles from Gaza. And still we are the bad guys in the story.

  1. You are not the bad guys! You are loved, cherished and prayed over continuously. I wish there was not evil in this world, but the reality is there is. Many many people know the truth and I personally appreciate your blog. Stay safe, stay strong Yael... with love, frannie in the US

  2. Thank you Frances, I meant it personally as well, but mainly in a much broader way, in the world and also here in the little swamp of blogland I sometimes read opinions that I find difficult to accept because I see that they are based on such incomplete and erroneous knowledge. I try to ignore it but it is still something that needs to be said here.

  3. It's easy to let your thoughts run wild. Often the people on the wrong side make the most noise which leads one to believe that they are the majority. I feel that here in Oz there are a lot with you Yael and everyone I speak to doesn't have a problem with Israelis. You don't run the Government, and you can't change the world. Stay safe and continue with your blogging!!

  4. You're getting fired on from all sides now. Gunfire I mean. We get reports from both sides. Opinion is divided. We are getting many reports of the tunnel systems Hamas has dug. Incredible the way they dug themselves in and developed those tunnels . It's going to be hard to destroy it all .

    1. They stole all the money for the tunnels from their citizens. While their citizens are hungry for food, they live in wealth.

  5. You know that I have great sympathy with you and other Israelis, Yael, and although I may not know as much history of your region as I should, I really do believe that the way in which the war against Hamas is being fought will not bring peace, will not release the hostages and will not bring security for your nation. The more innocents who are killed by bombing and shelling, the more your Arab neighbours will find any excuse to attack Israel with the support of Iran. As of now there is still a chance for Israel to be supported by allied nations, but even the U.N. is beginning to back away from the horror now. Please do not delete this comment, it is meant to be read with a good heart.

    1. Tom. It’s a conundrum. Which side would I be on? Which side would I want my children to be on. How would I want to judged a hundred years from now? These are open questions. No answers from me. It I appreciate that you’re in the mix trying. Good people should be able to talk and discuss.

  6. I will not delete the comment, I deleted your comment once by mistake when you wrote as anonymous. You have the right to your own opinions even if you are wrong about some of the things.

  7. A war cannot be fought half-heartedly - that achieves nothing. An enemy that embeds itself in the populace is cowardly and is the true enemy of the people of Gaza.

  8. I assume you mean Hamas, which uses civilians as human shields.

  9. If people don't understand
your situation,or educate themelves about what is really happening in your nation
they might have an opinion that isn't based on the truth. I actively seek FACTS about what is happening , and also research to find out how and why the general public can (without meaning to) support evil doers instead of defending the innocent in your nation and mine.
Yael , I firmly believe that when all has been said and done good will ultimately triumph. Please
    don't let anyone's criticism
of your beliefs, opinions, and choices discourage you,may God's love sustain you whenever you need it to,Mary

  10. You and I cannot solve this, Yael. I can only pray for your safety and that of your family and the children.

  11. Just as you are winning the war against Hamas, others have started to join in; much of which I imagine is funded by Iran. I do hope when Hamas wave the white flag that the others will see the folly of what awaits them.

    1. Sadly they will never do that Cro !! Hamas want's the Israelis to continue killing Palestinians so they will look bad to the rest of the world and gather more sympathy. A cunning strategy .

  12. I have been trying to write a supportive comment while avoiding language that will invite vitriolic responses from others, and it's proving impossible to do. But I certainly would not call you "the bad guys."

  13. I thank you very much. I hope that as time goes by and things become clearer more people will be less cautious about overt support. I can understand the caution. I read your blog and love every post.
