RAIN

It is raining.  A real rain for the first time this year and even a small thunderstorm.
The sky is gray and it looks like the winter that I so love.
I am so happy that the roof is not leaking (yet) and hope that this winter I shall have not leaking walls and roof.
I am so pleased that the war was in the summer. Can not imagine myself running to the bomb shelter in the rain.(Especially after the visit to the hair dresser).

things I did not know about cranes

Pair cranes will never parted.
If one of them dies the other will not find another partner.
They are very loyal to the family, all day they are with the family
only toward evening they join the flock.
The Japanese choose them as a symbol for hope, peace, happiness and longevity.

Each year they are coming to stay in the north of our country.
I know they've started the journey..

exposed

I listened to the radio in my car yesterday night while waiting to my son to come back with the train.
Someone was talking about our being exposed in so many ways and situations nowadays.
most of the streets are covered with cameras. Our smartpones tell where we are what we are doing and with whom we are talking. Our photos are in FB,  Pinterest, Instegram and more. And Google knows everything.
I belong to a generation that cherished privacy.Sharing your private life was a right that reserved to famous people and for other it was like hanging your dirty clothes outside.
I was thinking about it as I thought about blogging and the new generation of"" old" blogers who are not afraid to tell the world who they are.

Today was another day of chasing builders and all other kinds of interesting workers-

i lost google chrome

I lost google chrome and I can not upload it again. It just crashes every time I try to upload it.
This version of google does not let me write the headline.  Strange.
I know most people are fed up with all the proud grandmother's blogs but it does not make me less proud when I see the first story written by almost 6 years old.

After the Holidays

Tomorrow begins the "after the Holidays" season.
For nearly a month we had 3 holidays with a lot of
food.So after the holidays is always the time when new resolutions are taken.
The most popular is the beginning of the diets, and I am not exceptional.
By a coincidence I  just started to reread 3 of my old books ( I always read 3 at a time).
Nora Ephron's Heartburn, Andreas Staikos's Dangerous cooking and Peter Mayle's French Lessons.
All of them are very very rich in mouth watering recipes.
(Some of them I had already Cooke in the past)/

2 cats watching the first rain

It was the first rain, it lasted only 5 minutes
but Edmund the cat and Sneaky the former street cat
were full of thoughts while it last.
the empty food dishes got so empty because
one hedgehog and 2 jays are helping each day to finish the meal.
I noticed that the jays are making cat's voices when they want the cats to go away from the food.

waiting and thinking

I was waiting for him to finish his karate lesson and had time to think.
It is the same place that could be hit by a missile not long  ago.
What a crazy world.
I try not to write about the war that was here and pretend that we live normal life
like everybody else in that vulnerable world.
I try to forget all those comments against Israel like a Greek chorus in some blogs.
It was only short time before those commenters realized that they are exposed to danger
in their own countries.
I took him back home after the lesson and in my car we were talking and he said that he hope he will get the black belt before he will go to serve in the army. (he is 5.6).

yellow Rubber Duckies

28 rubber duckies in the bath yesterday reminded me of the 28,000 of 1992.
A shipping container filled with rubber duckies was lost at sea at 1992.And the bath toys are still washing ashore today.Map of the Friendly Floatees rubber duckies

yesterday

I felt a little like Trelawnyd yesterday.
Trying also to be positive and to find the beauty in the ordinary.
My neighbour  invited me to coffee in the morning. She came back from England visiting
her daughter and sister who lives there.
We had tea and cookies and a good conversation.
Than the wife of the former chief of the council cold me and told that she had a book that might interest me.
I went to take the book and had  good conversation with the former chief who is straggling his Alzheimer now but remembers well what happened 41 years ago.
I did try to be positive as hard as I can , but in both visits it was inevitable to ignore what happened
to us 41 years ago in the yom kippur war at 1973 so we poked our wounds and conclude that we can never know how strong we are and we will survive.
The book is about the the first hours of the Yom Kippur war but did not give me a clue what happened there to the people I lost there.

forgiving

It was early in the morning in our small supermarket
People are buying round halla for Yom Kippur. In few hours many of us will start the big fast until tomorrow evening.  Yom Kippur Is about forgiving and praying to be forgiven. I am not religious so I get a little beat confused about this day. But any way the feeling is in the air because there is no TV, no cars in the streets, no radio, no public transportation. Every thing is so quiet for one day. .

Back to Israel

So I found how to get back to Israel from the United State.
It is very easy  and I could choose any country.next  time I shall choose France.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Before he went to Europe at the beginning of the last war my son told me
not to watch TV and not to read the news papers so I could be more calm.
He also added that driving in our area is more dangerous than some missiles.
Now he is back for some months and I pick him several times a week from the train station
and have time to be in the mall few minutes before closing time.
