  4. So many surprises from you Yael. I am so pleased the children are following in their mother's footsteps and out with the horses. Life is life in your country too and we so often over here think it cannot go on as normal. I am glad it does, for both you and your family.

  6. They are so cute - and brave. I have always been scared of horses, even when I used to ride them.

  8. My childhood horse 'Misty' was a beast. She would throw me off every time I rode her. I became so used to it that I accepted it as part of riding. My wife was thrown from her horse about 3 years ago, and broke some ribs. Neither of us have any intention of ever riding again!

  10. How exciting for the kids! And your daughter is lucky, having had horse jobs.
As a child I was crazy about horses and learned to ride from age 12. That was in America. I think in Israel I've never had the chance to be on a horse.

    Shabbat shalom, Yael.

  12. Wonderful the children are trying horse riding! Such a long way to fall I have always thought [and therefore have never tried but have always admired those who do].

  14. I wish I had grandchildren Yael (maybe one day) because when I see what lovely grandchildren you have and the things you do together makes me teary.
I am scared of horses too, although I have ridden very gentle and well tamed ones before.

  15. Your grandchildren look so cute! It is so fine to be able to ride - and to build up a special relationship with such a beautiful animal. (I can't ride - found it very high to sit on them... Have you ever read about the Houyhnhnms by Swift?

  19. My daughter loved horses from the time she was a little girl. We had lots of those horse models they sell to collectors, she started that early. Also the "Little Pony" toys, my wife kept a big trunk full of the Little Ponies and still has them as a remebrance of when my daughter was a child.

When my daughter outgrew the pony, we got her a nice mare and she rode until she went off to school in Canada. A few years ago, she got a horse that was in bad shape, being neglected, and she took care of him. Now she has him at a stable in the city where she works and goes out at after work to groom him and enjoy his company. They go for trail rides when the weather is good. The horses name is Seamus. If my daughter moves from that city we are going to bring him up here on the mountain. I have had horses here before and it won't be so hard to take care of one more animal.
