Dog 1- my "grandson", sitting on my daughter's front porch, waiting for me to take him with me when we go to pick the children from their kindergarten
Dog 2- looks so sweet and innocent, caught in the middle of the night sleeping in a forbidden place.

  1. I haven't heard the term 'kindergarten' since I was a very young boy at school.

    3. I went to Kindergarten where one woman taught all ages from 4 to 7. I learned to read with her and then she told my mother there was no more she could do for me at 4 1/2 and I left and went to Prep school. My brothers all went to a different kindergarten. I am not sure I know of any kindergartens around here anymore though.

    4. But the first class at prep school is probably still called the kindergarten part of the school.

  3. Cute grandpuppies! I think the one in the first photo could use a hair cut above his eyes. It must be hard to see through that fur! :)

  5. Dog No 1 is very much my sort of dog; I like them medium sized and scruffy (unlike my present dog).

  7. Dogs are so much part of a family. My daughter too has grand babies ... dogs, one named Bella and the other Ferguson. I have always known kindergarten as a word.

  8. It is raining here so our two dogs, big ones, are inside. They rule us and one even talks, kind of. We have 2 doggy grandchildren Blossom and Angus. And yes, I send them a little Xmas gift each year. Having four children I expected more than two precious human grandchildren so doggy grandchildren are fine by me. Dogs truly are wonderful.

  9. Your English is always perfectly understandable Yael, so please don't worry. Here in SE England, my granddaughter went to" nursery"all day from the age of about 6 months( just 2 days a week, and they had to pay). She then started " pre-school" just before she was 4 ( paid for ) for a year and then " infant school" at nearly 5, where she still is. The next step will be " junior school" at 7.

  11. In the U.S. children go to private (i.e., the parents have to pay for all of it) day care or pre-school until they are 5. After that, what we call public school (paid by taxes) is free. Children spend a year in kindergarten before starting elementary school, which usually lasts from 1st - 5th grade. Middle School (also called Junior High in some places) usually runs from 6th - 8th grade. High school runs from 9th - 12th grades. There are exceptions and regional differences, but there is always kindergarten.

  12. Almost the same sistem here, so now i can be quiet about using the word kindergarten. Gary never came back too see how his comment took the focuse from the family members.

  13. Kindergarten is a perfectly normal word. It's used all the time in the north of England. Maybe there are regional differences. Like dog 1. Friendly sort.
